Teach My People (TMP) is a Christ-centered, academically focussed afterschool and summer program for students in need, selected by our local teachers, in Pawleys Island and Georgetown, South Carolina.
MISSION: Teach My People's MISSION is to teach children and youth in our partnering schools to overcome academic, economic and social challenges and impact families through the delivery of Christ-centered programs and services that promote spiritual, educational, and emotional growth.
APPROACH: Teach My People’s program model is that of a closed enrollment, meaning we bring in ten rising first graders each year and follow them until they graduate high school, and then into college. At Teach My People we provide high quality, academic afterschool and summer program for students that we will serve.
AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM For our first through sixth grades, we “extend the school day” by completing homework, partnering our students with volunteers for individualized tutoring and providing academic enrichment that will support what each student is learning in school. For our seventh through twelfth grades, we continue to focus on academics through tutoring but also practice soft skills, character development and leadership skills. Our high school students also focus on college readiness through building their school resumes, increasing GPAs, attending professional SAT/ACT tutoring, and participating in college tours throughout the spring.
SUMMER PROGRAM In addition to our afterschool program, we provide all of our students a fun packed, academically focused summer program. The goal of our summer program is to provide challenging and engaging learning experiences for our students so they are prepared to return to school in the fall at a level of academic preparedness that is comparative to their peers. With summer learning loss greater in children of generational poverty, our summer program is vital to the students we serve.
