Programs

Teach My People is recognized as a high quality Afterschool and Summer program that provides free services to 'at-risk' youth. Our programs run on a 12 month cycle, Monday-Friday. Our Afterschool program runs daily from 2:30-5:30pm, while our Summer program runs from 8:00am- 2:00pm for the months of June and July. We currently serve 90 students in grades first through tenth, and will continue to add a grade every year till we have our first graduating class in 2012! All of our students are recommended to us by the administrators and teachers of the Waccamaw School System. Our goal is that once a child enrolls with Teach My People, they continue with us till they graduate from High School, after which they will be offered a work-study scholarship to either Horry Georgetown Technical College or Coastal Carolina University.

Our programs provide academic assistance, reading enhancement, character development, cultural and spiritual enrichment, physical activity, and a hot and nutritious meal. Our low student/ teacher ratio (average 10/1) allows our staff to cultivate meaningful relationships and focus on their students’ academic, emotional, physical, and spiritual development. Our staff works closely with the Waccamaw Schools to ensure that our students are on track with the school-based curriculum and are better able to meet the individualized needs of each child.

  • Elementary School

Our Elementary School Program is essential in laying the foundation for our students to achieve a successful future. We provide daily opportunities for our students to engage in fun, meaningful, hands-on experiences that reinforce the school-based curriculum, emphasize the value and love of reading, capture their creativity and imagination, and encourage their character development.

  • Middle School

Our Middle School Program is designed to prepare and equip our students with the skills and mindset they need to successfully transition into High School. We've partnered with various community organizations to help our students set goals and engage them in the quality of their future. We've cultivated our program to be academically focused and student-driven. Our staff actively engages in our students' daily lives to help build meaningful relationships. We provide a healthy, positive, and engaging atmosphere that enables our students to overcome the various challenges of everyday life.

  • High School

Our High School Program is designed to prepare our students to graduate from high school, instill a desire for life-long learning, and become successful and contributing members of society. Upon graduation, TMP students will be offered a work-study scholarship to either Horry Georgetown Technical College or Coastal Carolina University. The uniqueness of this program is that our students have been with us from elementary years and have personally recognized the value and opportunity that lies within Teach My People. Daily attendance is not mandatory, as we encourage our students to be involved in the various activities that the school provides. However, we pride ourselves in the fact that our students choose to participate daily. We've cultivated an engaging atmosphere that not only enables them to meet their goals and succeed but has become a safe place, a second home, and an identity to our students.

We are thankful for our Sponsors. Their contributions to Teach My People help continue the mission. Get to know those who join with us.
